Imprisoned

Ringgg… the alarm rang. Gayatri stretched her arm to switch it off but her arm didn’t seem to have moved. She must be dreaming.. She tried again but still her arm didn’t move. She tried to get up from the bed but something was restraining her. By now the sound of the alarm was ringing in her head.

She opened her eyes and noticed she was tied by thin ropes from head to toe. Even her fingers seemed to be tied up.

She tried to break the ropes by using all her strength but to no avail. The rope was thin but strong. She tried to slither herself free but the more she tried, the tighter the  grip became. She was helpless.

It was 9 am. Her husband came looking to see why she hadn’t gotten up. He shook her gently and she opened her eyes.

Depression has no esoteric symptoms for the world to see. It imprisons people in their own brains.
